The Town Hall in Głusk, built in 1688, served for centuries as the administrative and judicial heart of the former city of Głusk. This Baroque building, one of the oldest town halls within present-day Lublin, is more than just a historical monument—it stands as a tangible witness to the social and urban transformations of the region. Its story—from an autonomous town to its incorporation into Lublin—reflects the layered cultural heritage of both the district and the city.

Today, we are working to carry out a comprehensive revitalization of this historic site—an effort aimed not only at preserving its deteriorating architectural fabric but also at breathing new, communal life into it. The Town Hall of Art (Ratusz Sztuki) will become a space for meetings, cultural activities, and educational events—a place where history inspires creative action.

Vision

The revitalization of the town hall is more than a restoration project—it’s a social endeavor that bridges tradition and modernity, heritage and future. We believe that culture and education can counteract exclusion and help build a real sense of community. That’s why we’re creating an open and accessible space for all—with special attention to those at risk of marginalization.

We want the Głusk Town Hall to become a vibrant cultural center for the district—a place for intergenerational meetings, joint initiatives, artistic expression, and social engagement. A place that celebrates local identity, fosters connection, and ignites the creativity of Lublin’s residents—not only from Głusk, but also from Śródmieście, Bronowice, Dziesiąta, and Kośminek.

Purpose

Our goal is to create a place that both restores the memory of the former city of Głusk and responds to the contemporary needs of the local community. We want the Głusk Town Hall—restored, accessible, and functional—to become a symbol of positive change: a new center for cultural, social, and educational activity.

It will be a space for youth seeking their place in the world, for seniors eager to share their experience, for people with disabilities, and for everyone who wants to take action, create, and be part of a community. The Town Hall of Art is a project built on collaboration, empathy, and trust—a milestone on the path to social revitalization.

We Have a Copy!

The original Głusk Town Hall has been faithfully recreated at a 1:1 scale in the Lublin Open-Air Village Museum as a tribute to the architectural heritage of the region. Thanks to this reconstruction, visitors can admire its form and craftsmanship—but it is the original, neglected for decades, that truly needs new life.

Our aim is not only to preserve the memory of the past but also to reclaim a genuine historic space for the community. We want this authentic monument—not just a museum piece, but a living center of activity—to become an inspiration for rediscovering local identity and building the future together.
